On November 3, 2022, the International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE), the youth movement of the Socialist Equality Parties across the globe, issued a powerful statement calling for young people to attend the December 10, 2022, international rally against the war in Ukraine.
The statement says: “The war must be stopped before it results in a global catastrophe. The interaction of NATO’s imperialist militarism, recklessly pursuing its global geopolitical agenda whatever the consequences, and the increasing desperation of Russia’s oligarchic capitalist regime threatens to escalate into a nuclear conflagration.” The IYSSE makes clear that only a turn to the world working class, on the basis of a fight for socialism, will stop the war. Every pseudo-left organization calling itself socialist has lined up behind the NATO imperialist powers against Russia. The statement provides the historical background that every young person and worker needs to assimilate to explain a principled stand against imperialist war.
